Zeus vs Set Watering Hole

Postby andehpandeh » Tue 09-Mar-2010, 12:38:10

A pretty good game, lots going on. Don't think he was a fantastic player but the TC control totally strangled his pop.

He kept saying I was 1800+ haha, it's usually me asking some smurf that. Granted, I was 1620 which is a bit low for me but nah, played a good game.

Watch for my Lorenzo-inspired laming (docks, side-building barracks etc) :P

Ok, I watched. First of all, good job, this was high 16xx level play to be sure, which is actually better than I used to think you were xD (no offense intended).

Anyways, tips, comments, congratulations:

1. Overall, good build order.
2. Need to advance faster to Heroic/Mythic.
3. Wasted both Resto and Bronze...this can cost you the game a lot of the time, make sure you don't do either of these again.
4. Overall, this was 1700-1720 eco management I'd say, good job here, just remember to keep spending (duh...I hate when people tell me this 11)
5. This map is great for UW, I tend to go Apollo here a lot...but this is discretionary.
6. Good job rebuilding military buildings.
7. Need to have your Heroes out at all times (especially Odysseus), you were getting mauled by Wadjets.
8. Good job denying him trade/gold spots and making him fight for every last TC.

Oddly enough, I played a game vs JaZz yesterday that was this exact same matchup XD

I hardly *ever* go Apollo unless I'm totally losing badly and I wanna manticore spam...

Cheers for the tips, I'll go watch yours now

You 97% of the time go Apollo for UW, hardly ever for Manticores.

Fair enough, and the UW is used to claim settlements/destroy theirs, correct?

basically yes...

...and disrupt trade or need to defend a raid/make a raid fast, or help a teammate. I would go Apollo basically every single game in team games for example.

Yeah that's fair enough. I suppose the archer upgrades do it justice too. I just love the Scylla and Dionysus for Colossi and Titan :)

Bacchanalia is extremely overrated 11, that 5% hardly counters for anything in all intents and purposes. UW is the only game changing ability that Apollo has really...and Bronze is also the only real game changing ability that Dionysus has to offer except for the sometimes exception of a Hydra spam or Scylla FH.

Fair enough, in which case I'll be using Apollo more frequently in future. How could I use it vs Isis/Ra? Quite a tough setup

I would most go Apollo vs Isis/Ra on more closed maps (e.g. Watering Hole, Alfheim, Highland, Mediterranean, team game Marshes) or just larger maps in general. Opening up a new front at an Eggy's back TC or trade is often a game-winner in itself, especially when team with Siege/Colossi. Maps like Savannah, small open Marshes, and Midgard (sometimes Anatolia, this map seems to be 50/50 for me) I tend to go Dionysus more often to win faster with a quick Bronze to overwhelm the Eggy at his forward mig.

Did that rec work for you yet?
